The UAE has intensified coordination with global shipping lines and logistics stakeholders to secure cargo flows and reinforce regional supply chain performance amid ongoing maritime disruption.

Senior officials convened in Dubai on April 9, 2026, to align operational responses, expand alternative trade corridors and accelerate customs measures supporting cargo throughput.

Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, chaired the session hosted by Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, bringing together maritime operators and industry bodies to address capacity constraints, cost pressures and routing volatility affecting regional logistics networks.

Coordination expands corridor capacity

PCFC and Dubai Customs outlined a series of measures aimed at maintaining cargo velocity and stabilising trade flows.

Authorities confirmed the expansion of alternative maritime routes through Fujairah and Khorfakkan, alongside increased reliance on multimodal links integrating land and rail corridors.

Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of PCFC, highlighted progress in diverting cargo volumes through these routes to offset pressure on primary shipping lanes.

Coordination between public and private operators has enabled consistent cargo handling and reduced dwell times across key entry points.

Dubai Customs disclosed implementation of Customs Notice No. 6, allowing transit cargo to move through a green corridor with Oman.

The authority also confirmed acceptance of undertaking letters as guarantees, reducing clearance friction and accelerating cross border cargo movement.

Authorities also initiated workshops with traders to streamline adoption of corridor mechanisms and improve compliance rates across freight forwarders and shipping agents.

Customs systems
Dubai Customs is deploying the Advance Cargo Information system across shipping lines for all green corridor shipments.

The system enables pre arrival data processing, reducing clearance cycles and improving predictability in cargo handling.

Officials also confirmed the launch of a regional feeder service linking UAE ports with India, adding capacity to short sea shipping routes and supporting faster redistribution of cargo volumes across the region.

Additional measures include extending re export grace periods, onboarding more land transport operators into secured corridors and expanding the green corridor framework to include Saudi Arabia.

Multiple clearance pathways have also been introduced to reduce bottlenecks and increase processing rates at ports and border points.

Policy alignment supports continuity

Dr Al Zeyoudi outlined continued government focus on maintaining uninterrupted movement of essential and strategic goods.

Policy alignment across federal and local entities is structured to preserve cargo throughput, strengthen trade links and sustain the UAE’s position as a global logistics hub.

Recent coordination has also prioritised handling of critical shipments and activation of contingency transport solutions to offset disruptions across traditional maritime routes. Multimodal integration and corridor diversification remain central to maintaining supply chain continuity.

Authorities confirmed that further collaboration with international partners will continue through upcoming coordination sessions, with additional measures expected to focus on capacity scaling, cost control and network reliability.
